The Function of Law in the International Community: An Anniversary Symposium (2008)
Proceedings of the 25th Anniversary Conference of the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law
Edited by James Crawford and Margaret Young
On 11-12 July 2008, international law scholars and practitioners from around the world gathered at the University of Cambridge to reflect upon the theme The Function of Law in the International Community. The event marked the 25th anniversary of the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, which was founded by Professor Sir Elihu Lauterpacht in 1983. The topic was specifically chosen to mark the 75th anniversary of Sir Hersch Lauterpacht's seminal work (1933). This online edited collection reproduces the papers and commentary delivered at the conference plenary and at six separate interest group sessions.
Part I: Opening Plenary
