Facilities
Premises
The Lauterpacht Centre is located in two neighbouring spacious Victorian houses situated in large pleasant gardens at 5–7 Cranmer Road. The Centre enjoys a congenial and relaxed atmosphere, providing the perfect space for social and intellectual interchange. The Centre acquired 7 Cranmer Road (Bahrain House) in 2002 thanks to the generous contribution of the Government of Bahrain. This building provides additional visitor accommodation as well as office and conference space. The Centre benefits from up-to-date computing facilities, providing visiting scholars access to the Internet, various electronic research tools, and the University's extensive network of resources.
Libraries
The Centre has its own library, which includes a unique collection of pleadings and other documents from international litigation of interest to scholars and practitioners alike. The collection is supplemented by regular donations of books. The Centre's collection is included on the on-line Cambridge University Libraries Catalogue System. All Visiting Fellows have access to the University Library and Squire Law Library, which maintains one of the largest legal collections (both printed and electronic) in the United Kingdom.
Accommodation
With the addition of Bahrain House, the Centre is able to provide a number of newly renovated, modern rooms for Visiting Fellows. A large kitchen is shared by all the residents of the House. Access to the Centre's spacious gardens and the convenience of being located close to the centre of Cambridge ensures that Visiting Fellows have an enjoyable stay while in Cambridge. |
