Professor Vinuales gives lecture on investment law at the College de France

On 12 June 2014, Professor Jorge Vinuales, Harold Samuel Professor of Law and Environmental Policy at the University of Cambridge, gave a lecture at the Collège de France on 'L'Etat face a la protection internationale de l'entreprise'.   A recording of the lecture is available on the website of the Collège.

 

Bohdan Winiarski Scholarships in International Law 2015

The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law is pleased to announce the opening of a competition for two scholarships, funded by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London. The scholarships have been named after the Polish Judge and international lawyer, Bohdan Winiarski. The scholarships are primarily aimed at younger Polish scholars in the early years of their career and are intended to cover a research visit at the Lauterpacht Centre in 2015.

On the 23rd of June, the online Customary IHL Database of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was updated with State practice from 11 countries relating to armed conflicts and humanitarian issues regulated by international humanitarian law (IHL).

An update of State practice from 14 countries relating to various matters of international humanitarian law (IHL) is now available on the online Customary IHL Database of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This State practice was processed by the British Red Cross researchers based at the Lauterpacht Centre in close collaboration with the ICRC.

On 14 November 2013 a conference was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London to commemorate the life and achievements of Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski (1926-2010), the first Minister of Foreign Affairs in post-1989 Poland and Judge at the Iran-US Claims Tribunal.

The Selection Committee for the Bohdan Winiarski Scholarships is pleased to announce that the selection process for the 2014 scholarships has been completed.

The successful candidates are: Ms Agnieszka Gliszczyńska-Grabias from the Poznan Human Rights Center, Institute of Legal Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and Ms Katarzyna Holy, from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
