Bohdan Winiarski Scholarships in International Law 2014

The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law is pleased to announce the opening of a competition for two scholarships, funded by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London. The scholarships have been named after the Polish Judge and international lawyer, Bohdan Winiarski. The scholarships are primarily aimed at younger Polish scholars in the early years of their career and are intended to cover a research visit at the Lauterpacht Centre in 2014.

The Government has today published a major analysis paper on the implications of Scottish independence: "Scotland Analysis: Devolution and the Implications of Scottish Independence".  The paper annexes an Opinion written by Professor James Crawford along with Professor Alan Boyle of the University of Edinburgh, entitled 'Opinion: Referendum on the Independence of Scotland – International Law Aspects'.

ICRC Customary International Humanitarian Law Database updated

An update of State practice of 23 countries relating to armed conflict and humanitarian issues is now available on the online ICRC Customary IHL Database. This State practice was processed by the British Red Cross researchers based at the Lauterpacht Centre, in close collaboration with the ICRC.
