Customary IHL Project updates ICRC database

An update of State practice from 14 countries relating to various matters of international humanitarian law (IHL) is now available on the online Customary IHL Database of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This State practice was processed by the British Red Cross researchers based at the Lauterpacht Centre in close collaboration with the ICRC.

On 14 November 2013 a conference was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London to commemorate the life and achievements of Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski (1926-2010), the first Minister of Foreign Affairs in post-1989 Poland and Judge at the Iran-US Claims Tribunal.

Bohdan Winiarski Scholarships in International Law 2014

The Selection Committee for the Bohdan Winiarski Scholarships is pleased to announce that the selection process for the 2014 scholarships has been completed.

The successful candidates are: Ms Agnieszka Gliszczyńska-Grabias from the Poznan Human Rights Center, Institute of Legal Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and Ms Katarzyna Holy, from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

New practice from three countries and two international bodies up to the end of 2010 has been integrated into the database on customary international humanitarian law (IHL) run by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This practice has been analysed and processed by a team of British Red Cross researchers based at the Lauterpacht Centre.
