Cambridge awarded major grant on international peace-making

Cambridge Professor Marc Weller has been awarded a major grant to enhance the impact of law on international peace negotiations. Professor Weller is the Director of the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law in the University of Cambridge. The project, developed together with Dr Tiina Pajuste of the Lauterpacht Centre, is being conducted in close collaboration with the United Nations Secretariat in New York.

Marc Weller wins major award for 'truly stellar' academic contribution to law

Professor Marc Weller, the Director of the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law in the University of Cambridge, last night won the prestigious Halsbury Legal Award for his distinguished academic contribution to law. In their citation for the award, which is considered the ‘Oscar’ of the legal world, the panel of senior independent judges noted that the winner’s contribution to his field was ‘unrivalled—truly stellar’.

Customary IHL Project updates ICRC database

On 30th July, the online Customary IHL Database of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was updated with State practice from nine countries, as well as practice from the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

Professor Vinuales gives lecture on investment law at the College de France

On 12 June 2014, Professor Jorge Vinuales, Harold Samuel Professor of Law and Environmental Policy at the University of Cambridge, gave a lecture at the Collège de France on 'L'Etat face a la protection internationale de l'entreprise'.   A recording of the lecture is available on the website of the Collège.


Bohdan Winiarski Scholarships in International Law 2015

The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law is pleased to announce the opening of a competition for two scholarships, funded by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London. The scholarships have been named after the Polish Judge and international lawyer, Bohdan Winiarski. The scholarships are primarily aimed at younger Polish scholars in the early years of their career and are intended to cover a research visit at the Lauterpacht Centre in 2015.
