Profile:

I recently graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and a Master of Public Affairs in Environmental Policy & Natural Resource Management from Indiana University O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. I took the Illinois bar exam in July and am interested in practicing environmental and wildlife law. I look forward to collaborating with scholars at the University of Cambridge!

Research Area:

Deep-Sea Mining & Environmental Impacts and Regulations

Research Title:

Deep-Sea Mining and Environmental Law

Research Outline:

My research focuses on the potential beginning of deep-sea mining in the Clarion-Clipperton Zone in the Pacific Ocean and the need for strong environmental regulations. This is an upcoming topic with many companies interested in extracting valuable minerals from polymetallic nodules in the Clarion-Clipperton Zone. Many of these minerals are used in clean energy, but the impacts of deep-sea mining on ecosystems and on communities that rely on the ocean is currently unclear. The International Seabed Authority decides permits and regulations for deep-sea mining and recently met on July 30, 2025. I am looking forward to delving into this topic and learning more from scholars at the University of Cambridge who specialize in ocean law and energy law.
