Speaker: José Emilio Nunes Pinto, founding partner of José Emilio Nunes Pinto Advogados, in São Paulo, Brazil, is one of the leading figures in international arbitration. He has acted as arbitrator, expert and appointing authority in more than 250 disputes, both commercial and investment arbitrations, ad hoc and before the main arbitral institutions around the world. A former Vice-President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and member of the LCIA Court, José Emilio is widely recognised for his longstanding contribution to the development of arbitration practice and for his influence across different legal cultures and regions.

Drawing on decades of experience, José Emilio will share reflections on career paths in arbitration, the evolution of practice, its current challenges, and future trends in a rapidly changing global landscape, while enriching the discussion with insider stories shaped by a distinguished professional journey at the forefront of the field. The event will take the form of an interview-style discussion moderated by members of CUArb, with active participation from the audience encouraged. The conversation aims to offer both critical insights and practical perspectives, fostering an open dialogue between generations of arbitration professionals.
