In 2025, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) published its updated Commentary on the Fourth Geneva Convention. The law of occupation has also featured prominently in recent advisory opinions of the International Court of Justice. In light of these significant pronouncements, this panel will explore some contemporary issues in the law of occupation, including the right to water, humanitarian relief, and prolonged occupations.
