Speaker: Mr Subhiksh Vasudev
Space exploration is no longer the exclusive domain of sovereigns, and the private sector already dominates the space market as the global space economy is set to reach USD 1.8 trillion by 2035. With that scale of commercial activity comes cross-border contracts and, inevitably, commercial and investment disputes. However, the existing legal framework built around the five UN treaties does not contain binding dispute resolution mechanisms for resolving international disputes arising from space activities. In this lecture, Mr Subhiksh Vasudev will examine the existing case law and empirical study of space-related disputes and discusses how international arbitration can be the solution going forward.
