Professor Jan Klabbers takes up role as Centre Director

The Centre is delighted to announce that Prof Jan Klabbers, formerly Professor of International Law at the University of Helsinki, will be Director of the Lauterpacht Centre from September 2026. Jan is familiar to Cambridge and the Centre having become the Whewell Professor of International Law in 2025.

Jan takes over from Professor Sandesh Sivakumaran who has been Centre Director since 2023. We thank Sandy for his leadership and contributions to the work and life of the Centre and wish him well in his new role of Deputy Chair at the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge.
