Professor Muthucumaraswamy Sornarajah's pioneering scholarship, produced over more than four decades and ranging from human rights to the theory of international law to arbitration and foreign investment law, has made invaluable contributions to international law. His writings on investment law in particular have proven to be incisive and prophetic. In this conversation with friend and colleague Antony Anghie he reflects on his academic journey as a third world scholar, confrontations with the politics of international law, and views on recent developments in the field.
Prof Muthucumaraswamy Sornarajah is Emeritus Professor of Law at the National University of Singapore.
Prof Antony Anghie teaches international law at the National University of Singapore, and the University of Utah. He is the Arthur Goodhart Visiting Professor of Legal Science 2024-2025 at the University of Cambridge.
