Location:
Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, Berkowitz/Finley Lecture Hall

5 pm – 6 pm, Friday 7 November 2025

Followed by a drinks reception in the Old Library.

Joan Donoghue is a former Judge of the International Court of Justice, a visiting professor in the law school at the University of California, Berkeley, and for the 2025/26 academic year will be the Arthur Goodhart visiting professor in legal science at the University of Cambridge.

Sir Christopher Greenwood is Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge, a former Judge of the International Court of Justice and an Honorary Fellow of the Lauterpacht Centre.

Sir Christopher Greenwood and Professor Joan Donoghue had the privilege of serving together as Judges on the International Court of Justice.  They also have seen international law from a variety of other perspectives, including as advocates, as members of arbitral tribunals, as advisors to governments and as teachers. As befits a chat between old friends, they expect to touch on a range of topics and will welcome questions from the audience.

Chair: Prof Sandesh Sivakumaran, Director of the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law
