The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law is pleased to invite applications for the Brandon Research Fellowship 2025-2026, funded by generous gifts from Mr Michael Brandon MA, LLB, LLM (Cantab), MA (Yale) (1923–2012) and Mr Christopher Brandon.

The Lauterpacht Centre provides a base for research in Cambridge for legal practitioners and academics from around the world. The Brandon Fellow will be welcomed as part of the community of visiting scholars at the Centre.  Whilst in Cambridge, visiting scholars will have the opportunity to meet with other researchers in their field and are encouraged to participate fully in the activities of the Centre, including the Friday lectures and the work-in-progress seminars. The Brandon Fellow will have access to the Centre’s library, the University Library (on application) and the Faculty of Law’s Squire Law Library.

To apply for the Brandon Research Fellowship 2025-2026 please read the Guidance Notes for Applicants carefully before completing the application form. All documents should be prepared in English and sent as a pdf. You will need to send:

(1)    a completed application form including outline of proposed research;
(2)    Curriculum vitae (maximum four pages);
(3)    Two letters of reference sent by the referee to communications@lcil.cam.ac.uk

The applicant must ensure that his/her application is delivered by email to communications@lcil.cam.ac.uk by the specified deadline.  

The applicant is responsible for ensuring that the letters of reference are delivered from the institutional email address of the referee concerned by the application deadline. Unfortunately, applications received after the deadline cannot be considered.

The application deadline for the 2025-2026 Brandon Fellowship is Friday 4 April 2025

The successful candidate will be contacted within three months of the closing date.
